Triumph announces new Tiger Sport 600 - NZ to finally get full power option

Triumph's Trident 660 is finally being offered in full-power in New Zealand

That's right. Not only has Triumph Motorcycles pulled the covers off a tasty update to its smallest sports touring motorcycle—the Tiger Sport 660—but it's also confirmed that New Zealand will finally have the option to unleash the full potential of the engine with a full-power option to be available alongside the LAMS Tiger Sport 660.

The new 2025 Trident 660 is expected to arrive in New Zealand dealerships in December with a price point of $14,990 for both the LAMS and full-power versions. The news that Triumph has finally allowed Kiwis to have a full-power version of the Trident will be welcomed by many, however, unlike in Europe where the restricted A2 version can be retuned to full power, NZ's LAMS legislation unfortunately doesn't allow for this feature here.

In terms of upgrades, Triumph has given the 2025 Trident 660 a host of new equipment that

raises the bar significantly over the previous bike. Included tech in the new update includes Optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control, the Triumph Shift Assist quick shifter and cruise control all fitted as standard. The integrated TFT display and MyTriumph Bluetooth Connectivity system give riders turn-by-turn navigation, calls and music control, and there are three rider modes, including a new Sport mode.

“We first launched the Trident in 2020 with a unique combination of exhilarating triple performance and character, confidence-inspiring handling and bold British styling, Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer Paul Stroud said. With its unrivalled overall cost of ownership on top, it proved popular with riders of all ages and experience levels, in markets across the world, and since its launch the Trident has won several major industry awards.
“The addition of this technology sets the bar for the category yet again. Building on the popularity of the bright, bold colour scheme of our special edition, the Trident Triple Tribute, we are introducing striking new colour schemes in Cosmic Yellow, Cobalt Blue, and Diablo Red, as well as the Jet Black. But the most important factor for our customers, of course, is that the Trident 660 makes every ride seriously fun.”

With 45 Genuine Triumph Accessories to choose from, riders can add protection, comfort,

styling, luggage and security to their Trident 660. From heated grips and scrolling indicators

to enhance the everyday commute, to preparing for longer trips with a tail pack and tank bag

and flyscreen, customers can use the Triumph Configurator to create their own style.

With the new Trident expected in the country before the year is out, it will be fascinating to see if all those voices from the internet demanding a full-power option will put their money where their mouth is and purchase one for the summer riding season.
