Segway Side by Sides and ATVs Headed To New Zealand

Following the announcement that Segway is moving into the petrol and hybrid Side by Side and ATV world, Segway Powersports has appointed Urban Moto Imports (UMI) as the official Australia and New Zealand distributor of Segway Powersports off-road vehicles.

Urban Moto Imports is quickly becoming one of the larger players in the New Zealand motorcycle distribution game, with Royal Enfield, MV Agusta, Benelli, Super Soco and Peugeot Scooters already under the company's distribution umbrella.

"As Segway Powersports forges a new path in hybrid All-Terrain Vehicles, we are confident that UMI is the perfect partner to establish the brand in the important ANZ region," says Segway Technology's CEO Mark Zhu.

"We look forward to working with UMI to establish the Segway Powersports brand as a key player in All-Terrain Vehicle industry."

Founded in 1999 by Dean Kamen in the USA, Segway has come a long way from the nerdy image we most readily associate it with.

The new range is ultimately a brand new platform of petrol and hybrid-powered vehicles including All-terrain Vehicles, Utility Side by Side and Sports Side by Side models, with power outputs of up to 250 Nm of torque, and 181 horsepower claimed by Segway.

The new Segway range is also equipped with the very latest in technology and safety features, meeting and exceeding the current government standards for all-terrain vehicles – particularly in regards to ATV rollover safety.

According to Segway, the tech package includes mobile phone integration, SOS alerts, remote controlling, drive settings, real-time data and smart EPS system that is designed with standard/comfort/sport modes that will adjust automatically according to traction conditions.

At the time of writing Urban Moto Imports is yet to comment on local arrival of the new Segways or what local pricing might look like.
