For most of us, BMW’s class-leading superbike the M 1000 RR is simply out of our financial reach, at least in full-size form. Thankfully, come January 1st there will be a more affordable option on sale, with the LEGO Technic BMW M 1000 RR going on sale worldwide.
While it may be lacking somewhat in terms of speed, inline 4 power or the simple ability to be ridden, the Lego Technic M 1000 RR still brings some fun factor to the table.
In the box are 1920 individual pieces which (we're guessing slowly) come together to create the impressive 1:5 scale replica of BMW’s 212hp crowning glory. That means once its all together you’ve got your own M 1000 RR, which just so happens to be 45.5 cm long…
The Lego version even features functional components including a three-speed gearbox, upside-down fork and the rear swingarm with suspension, as well as a dashboard with three different display options and a gold-coloured drive chain. The kit also includes a paddock stand and pit board to help give your desk that race-inspired flair it was missing.
“It’s been so much fun getting underneath the skin of such a significant model for BMW Motorrad,” says LEGO designer, Samuel Tacchi. “There’s a reason why these beautifully engineered bikes are so universally loved by the biking community, and we are confident our LEGO Technic version is a winner like its real-life namesake.”
The LEGO Technic BMW M 1000 RR will be available exclusively in LEGO stores and on http://www.lego.com/BMW from 1 January 2022, with stock expected to reach other retailers from March 1st 2022. Pricing has been confirmed as €199.99 (about $333) so while it's much more affordable than the real deal, it is still a premium-priced product.
