The Long Way Round team return for their third series - Long Way Home - streaming from May 2025
It's official! Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman return to our screens for Long Way Home, streaming on Apple TV from May 9th.
After the mixed reception to the pair's choice of bikes for Long Way Up - the (then) Harley-Davidson LiveWire - for Long Way Home, the boys are looking to the past instead of the future with a pair of 50-year-old classic motorcycles as the transportation of choice.
Longtime Moto Guzzi fan Ewan McGregor swings a leg over a classic Moto Guzzi Eldorado, while Charley Boorman jumps aboard a BMW once again; however, the R75/5 is a step back in time from the modern GS bikes the pair rode into the mainstream for Long Way Round and Long Way Down.
As with the first three series, long time collaborators Russ Malkin and David Alexanian return as directors. We're yet to discover if fan favourite cameraman Claudio von Planta is also returning for the fourth series.
Like many, the Long Way series was an early inspiration for my motorcycling career, with an almost yearly re-watch of Long Way Round and Long Way Down still a winter comfort. With the move to attainable motorcycles and a focus on rides closer to the pair's home, Long Way Home will surely be another hit with motorcyclists and non-riders alike.
Here's the official synopsis:
Long Way Home follows Ewan and Charley as they ride refurbished vintage motorbikes from Ewan’s home in Scotland to Charley’s in England — but rather than take the shortest route, they go the long way! They head across the North Sea to Scandinavia, all the way up to the Arctic Circle and then down to the Baltics and through continental Europe, before eventually hopping back over the English Channel two months later. It’s an adventure that will take them to more than fifteen countries, through spectacular scenery and along some of the greatest driving roads in the world. Along the way they’ll immerse themselves in each country’s culture, meet the locals and try their hand at unique and eclectic activities.
