Not just for yacking to your mates, Cardo is now adding safety enhancements to its Packtalk series with its newest unit, the Packtalk Pro, gaining crash detection as a headline feature.

“The Packtalk Pro is the most advanced communication device we’ve developed in our history,” said Alon Lumbroso Chief Executive Officer, Cardo System.  “The introduction of crash detection and emergency alerts arms riders with a heightened level of security, taking what is already the most advanced and feature-rich system on the market and elevating it to a new level.”

“For two decades we’ve committed ourselves to enhancing the riding experience and moving the industry forward with innovations that truly matter to riders. We intend to maintain that leadership position for many years to come,” said Lumbroso.

Cardo has learned from its foray into subscription-based systems by ensuring that all the new features of the Packtalk Pro are part of the same flat price. Compared to the Packtalk Edge, the Packtalk Pro with its new features is priced $120 more at $899.

In order to add the new crash detection feature work the Packtalk Pro features sensors feel what your head feels, saving valuable response time when it’s needed most. Essentially, it is an IMU like found in modern bikes with cornering ABS or traction control.

When activated, the Cardo Connect App communicates to the Cardo cloud, which in turn informs your emergency contact, creating a unique and dependable crash detection system made specifically for on-road motorcycle riders. Sadly, the system isn’t supported for those riders who like to go off the beaten track.

Cardo has gone to great lengths to ensure the system is the most robust and accurate in the business. Cardo Systems has commissioned numerous crash test trials, as well as conducted extensive and ongoing field data collection from numerous riders around the world. Cardo’s Crash Detection System is based on a perpetual learning algorithm. With thousands of Cardo riders worldwide who will contribute to the continuous data analysis and constant evolution of Cardo’s Crash Detection System, the current solution’s performance is just the beginning.

Another handy addition to the Packtalk Pro made possible by the same tech is the introduction of an auto-off feature.  Once activated, the Packtalk Pro will power down when standing still, and power back up for the ride for maximum battery life. That means no more missed calls for those of us who constantly forget to switch off their unit when pulling over for lunch.

As always, Cardo retains top notch audio quality for the basic functions of the comm unit, care of premium 45mm JBL speakers paired with an advanced sound processor. Like the Packtalk Edge, the Pro also uses the same magnetic fastening system and features Waterproof IP67 rating, Bluetooth 5.2, Over-The-Air Software Updates, fast charging, USB type-C, built-in FM Radio, universal Bluetooth intercom and a 3-year warranty.

Cardo’s local distributor Darbi Accessorises has confirmed that New Zealand will be among the first countries in the world to receive the Packtalk Pro when it is released internationally on July 7th.
